2024 Traxxas Maxx Slash Is COMING! | What YOU Need To Know!
This will go well with my Tlr typhon, exb talion and 6s typhon. 🤷🏼♂️🤘🏻
I have 3 different arrma trucks one of them is the KRATON exb v2 straight out the box and till today haven’t broken anything I haven’t been so lucky with my talions look I know it sucks to be unlucky I get it but It’s ok brother don’t just bash blast 😅
I would definitely race it
Remove the aluminum red ring on the lower front arms and your cvd will not pop out… i had the same problem. I removed them and it never happened again
Definitely a good tip. I do discuss it in a later video.
@@DoRC well i had the tip from internet 😂 but i had to try it… because it popout really easy… for me it worked it never popout again… and its a really easy fix. I hope works for who read this and has the same problem
@@Gaming_with_rage It's definitely a good tip!
NASCAR people will pay anything
It doesn’t fit the stock motor does it ? 1:20
These gears are for the differentials so you can use it with whatever motor you want.
@@DoRC thanks ima order all 3, also any recommendations on a spur & pinion gear? My motor is stock! I’m going with vitavon tired of gears stripping
@@DoRC also how did they hold up??
@@DoRC can u also send me all 3 links from vitavon I should order the all 3 diffs ( stock xmaxx ) and if possible spur and pinion gear thanks !
@sunnyv1281 The GPM mod 1.5 gears are pretty good
Nice to see you comming away from dog sh#t arrma
great video, only miss a side to side to typhon 3s
Yeah if I had one I definitely would have done it.
Look’s awesome and for the price I would try one out🔥🔥🔥😎👍
Yeah if you're looking for a basic reliable ESC going with a hobby wing is probably the best bet but if you want to try something different this is definitely worth a look
Can't believe I found this by chance and my issue is with this very wheel/tyre! You do so much good for the RC community and I know I and I bet many people appreciate you and your channel.. Can I ask your advice on the hex issue of the Arrma's being too thin. I have an EXB Kraton 6S V1 and was wondering if you could recommend a replacement HEX to install instead of reusing the Arrma? I have Corally cars as well and notice theirs are wider but aren't exactly the same in regards to design/shape.. Ken to hear your thoughts, cheers
They're actually a bunch of different 6s Arrmas that use thicker hexes. I bet if you jump on Jenny's RC and look up any of the modern models you'll be able to find a set of takeoff hexes for not much money. You should be able to find them on eBay as well
I've bashed the crap out of (and rebuilt repeatedly) my Tenacity TT Pro.........thinking this might be my next hot rod/shelf queen. If anyone can think of a reason I should consider another car, please share your opinion. This would be my second RC, only in the hobby for a year or so.
Will the car mostly be for bashing. If it is I'm not sure this will be most economical option. This is really designed as a race car and it just happens to be a good basher. Check out the TC spark. It's cheaper handles pretty close to as well and will run on 6S out of the box
Invest in a Metal detector. Find all your missing parts
I actually found this dog bone with the poor man's metal detector (magnet on a string) but you're right getting an actual metal detector would probably be a good idea
I purchased the MJX as a newbie to rc cars. You cannot get parts at your local hobby shop, but I did order on line when needed. The extra power in the 3S battery is insane.
Yeah most of the parts are available online it can just be a little challenging sometimes to figure out what parts are what. It definitely is crazy on 3S but in my experience kind of hard to control. What was your experience with control ability?
What was the title cost of your build?
Not entirely sure. I try not to add up the cost of these builds as it tends to be kind of depressing :-) probably a couple grand though
Probably better than Arrma, but pretty much brick and mortar hobby shops ONLY carry Traxxas and Arrma, at least here in Southern Cali. You can get parts everywhere and anywhere.
That's true. If your main concern is being able to get parts locally this probably won't be a good choice. I personally always buy my parts online so I don't really have much concern in that area.
I am fortunate that there are seven hobby shops within a radius of where I live, and one of them is a five-minute drive from my work. Hobby shops do not exist in a lot of places anymore, right? I hear a lot of buzz about Team Corally lately, and I hope that they penetrate the local hobby shops. It doesn't impress me anymore when I step into hobby shops and all I see are Arrma, Traxxas, and a little bit of Losi here and there.
@@jguillermoii Yeah TC is definitely getting more popular and for a good reason. They make a really good product and they've been improving their products very quickly in response to feedback. I have a hobby shop that's local to me as well I just don't really go there anymore. I think if I only had one or two cars I probably would get things locally but since I have several If one breaks it doesn't really matter if it's down for a few days and I usually don't have time to fix it right away anyway so I just buy the parts online and then fix it when I can
This vs Syncro 4 ?
I would say it depends on your goals and your budget. If you want to spend less in are only interested in packing go for the synchro. If you don't mind spending more and might end up running it on a track go for the losi
@@DoRC Thanks so much for your input and fast response!
what screw driver and bit you using?
Here's all the info on both ua-cam.com/video/OBVJ1u-Embo/v-deo.html
Arrma has announced that all unreleased and future production groms will use the “v2” full metal oil filled diffs!
I don't think that's quite right. According to their post on their Facebook page it looks like the new stock differentials will have metal planetary gears but it looks like that's the only change.
How does this compare to a Kyosho Mp-10e ready set (rtr)? Not really looking to bash just looking to throw down some laps at my local track. Nothing competitive
I'm probably not the best person to answer this question because I don't have any experience with the MP 10E and I'm not really a racer but I would imagine they'll probably be pretty similar. They're both fairly recent releases and are cost cut versions of competitive race buggies. For just having fun at the track I think either one of them would be fine.
I often wonder the saving on casting the knuckles etc, instead of making it cheaper through volume. How much do those downgrades save Losi over providing higher spec items?
Casting aluminum is far less expensive than machining it from a solid block. You use less material and there's very little post-processing that needs to be done. Machining something from a solid block of metal is pretty much the most expensive way to make something.
Seen some green straight lines on video, what happened during bash?
Yeah that was a rendering problem. I didn't notice until after the video posted. I rerendered the video and they weren't there the second time. I've never seen that before and I have no idea what caused it.
That's a nice looking RTR buggy. I didn't know "Spektrum" offered a sensored electronics package.
Before this they didn't.
@@DoRC ahhh see, I didn't think so but I have been known to miss things from time to time.
@RoostedFilms I think they have a an all-in-one censored system in a crawler or something but I can't remember exactly what it is. This is the first system like this that's sensored
@@DoRC now that you say that, I have seen the 2in1 crawler setup, very similar to the HW fusion stuff.
@RoostedFilms It's more than similar. It is the hobbywing fusion stuff :-)
Hobao VS2E is better price wise , durability wise and you can race and bash it … superb buggy 👍
What parts have you broken on the 8ight RTR?
ordered their carbon steel center diff spur gear for my kraton 4s. Any updates on how the material on your spur gear held up on your sledge?
I ended up selling it but it worked fine For the remainder of the time that I had it.
@@DoRCjust saw the video of the XRT with the GPM spur, that one works fine aswell?
After you upgrade the esc and put 6S lipo in....... that should've been the way it came out of box. C'mon Horizon, the 8IGHT is supposed to be your "Flagship Model". Not even waterproof? Big let down for that price.
To be fair this is being sold as a race car not as a basher and 1/8 scale buggy racing is done on 4S and most race cars are not waterproof. I'm kind of using it in a way it wasn't really designed to be used.
@DoRC oh ok. Didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying.
You're welcome thanks for watching :-)
"In with the weakness finder".! 😉 😉 😂 😂 👍 👍
:)
I want to get the best electric grass basher, any ideas?
How tall is the grass you're going to be bashing in?
@@DoRC 4 inch cut but I have public parks as well in Australia that I would like to bash, I'm thinking a buggy build
@user-bi8ys4ts2e with that tall of grass you probably don't want to bash a buggy. I'd recommend getting a truggy. Buggies are low enough to the ground that you're going to be dealing with a lot of drag from the grass and it's probably not going to drive very well and you're going to be dealing with overheating issues.
@@DoRC thanks
I sometimes just drive and do jumps/flips etc without wings as they occasionally imo have increased the dage to car when crashes occur. Not always but occasionally imo. That also depends on the surface you land on. Do tghe wings even increase the downforce on vehicle when driving under 60 mph? I have my doubts, but idk. They do look cool tho. I always enjoy your content and have benefited from your advice repeatedly. TY kindly for that. I recommend to consider possibly buying a strong magnet or perhaps a metal detector to sweep your lawn with, to find missing parts (dogbones/pins etc) It has paid for itself tenfold for me. Great video. Happy trails.
Generally speaking no the wing doesn't really do much of anything. Maybe in racing conditions it has a small effect but for the most part it's just for show. I've taken the wing off of a lot of my vehicles. I used to always add a front bumper to the rear of my outcasts
Meglio hobao racing VS2E
Definitely a good car
Awesome video as always.. That ramp you have out bashing sure has a really short and sharply rising ramp... I was wondering that must place some stress on the chassis as its almost like hitting a wall at those high speeds.. Looks like a fantastic buggy..
Yes the ramp very steep and puts a lot of stress on the vehicles. The area in which I'm bashing is very small so I need to have that angle to not end up in the neighbor's yard :-) It's also good for testing as it does put a lot of stress on things and I've actually broken a couple of cars just hitting the ramp.
I've been waiting for this one! Thanks for the review, I've been waiting to see how the Losi 8IGHT-XE holds up to bashing. Looks like it handles very well and jumps very well. Durability can always be improved, but good handling is often limited to the platform. Definitely a huge con that the motor and ESC are soldered together, cutting them voids the 2 year warranty.
Yeah that's the race car way though. I do understand why they did it. And this thing definitely handles really well out of the box. Even on the slick wet grass I was speed running on it barely needed any correction to stay straight and turned well.
i ended up watching your vid again. you know this time watching it, i tell ya, TC really do have impressive equipment. and the additional upgrades you added look good to. i guess i had not look that close to corally trucks. thanks for the info very info. have fun. thanks
Their first generation of bashers wasn't the best but they've come a long way in the last couple of years and their latest stuff is really good
Cool looking buggy but can you get parts for it losi is now owned by horizon hobby which has not been supporting their losi line for at least a year Anybody's got information about that that would be great
Haven't really had any issues getting parts but I haven't had to get too many of them. Which specific parts haven't you been able to get?
_This is indeed the bare minimum for someone who might think they want to get into racing! For its intended purpose, I think Losi knocked it out the park with this RTR!_
Definitely. I think that testing it in bashing is important as well though because most people who buy an RTR car like this will probably also use it for bashing purposes.
Its not that special. Kyosho is doing this for years and the Neo Inferno 3.0 is basicaly the same car.
@@FrankvdBerg Well to be fair the basic four-wheel drive aluminum chassis center differential shaft driven buggy design and layout has been around for a really long time and most buggies follow That same basic formula.
@@DoRC i agree. What i dont understand os why they did not put batterys on both sides. Thats more like how racers are these days
@@FrankvdBerg I'm not certain but my guess would be it was a constraint of making the car compatible with both nitro and electric setups.
_I could tell immediately that the 6S battery is just too freakin' heavy for this chassis!_ _(6S Battery is reserved for at minimum Asuga size buggies!)_
Maybe though this specific 6s battery is actually pretty small and doesn't weigh any more than the 4S battery that I had in there.
Would this body fit on a 8S Outcast EXB chassis?
I doubt it. It's pretty specifically designed for this car and the shape probably means it wouldn't fit well on anything but they want to fit scale I doubt it. It's pretty specifically designed for this car and the shape probably means it wouldn't fit well on anything but a 1 5th scale buggy
Love these type of videos, quick clear and straight to the point, no beating strong the bush, making it many times longer than it needs to be, thanks
Thanks. My goal is not to waste anybody's time so I'm glad you like it!
That baterry tray offers legit 0 support to lipos. Its more likely to damage the cells in frontal impacts
Yeah it's not the best. If you're going to run a soft pack you definitely want to have foam in front of and behind it.
I went to hit the like button like 3 times , thats how good ur vids are
Thanks man I'm glad you're enjoying!
Love what your doing in videos ❤
Glad you're enjoying and glad you're here!
ahhh damnit you beat me to it, my goddamn LHS said they'd have this thing in early last week and it still hasn't shown up yet. i was looking forward to having a teardown and review video up this week! i'm really excited about this one, my first race-style 8 scale, and even better its a LOSI!
Think you're going to love it! It's a really cool car. Let me know if your body is as thick as mine was. It's crazy
@@DoRC will do! there's an epic RC track north of me called DieHard RC, it's the only 8th scale track in western WA and even has camping accommodations
@VS666 Nice! I actually have a pretty decent track just about 5 minutes from my house. I need to actually go there sometime
Where is the blistering fast nitro motor?
Not sure what you mean
@@DoRC My Losi 8ight has all the fun of nitro, but with the lack of electric speed. Still fun, but slow by today's standards.
@JD-tl7ld ah gotcha. Yeah electric definitely wins out in power
Holy hubba bubba! That was Awesome ❤💯🤸♂️👍
Glad you enjoyed :-)
At the end of the day losi is at it again awesome review
Thanks Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm going to get this to do local racing with my buddies here in Barbados
Yeah should be good for that. I'm sure it isn't competitive at the absolute bleeding edge of racing but for just general having fun and club racing it should be just fine
I really like this channel. I think it's the best technical videos out here. You never waste our time. Thank you. As far as the buggy, i don't think there is a way to race anywhere remotely around me. I have lots of bash spots though. I'd go TLR Typhon. What i really want is a big 1/5 Typhon or whatever brand will build me a giant electric buggy.
Have you seen the TC asuga? It's not 1/5 scale but it's pretty big
@@DoRC I have. It's top of my list if something bigger isn't released this year. I'm wanting a DBXLE sized Typhon. Horizon has everything they need for it except a body and maybe tires.
@@boduke9428 gotcha.
any plans on checking out traxxas "budget" bl-2s offerings?
Probably not. It usually doesn't make sense for the channel to buy things that have been out for a while and I kind of miss the boat on those.
The tear down are my favorite part from thanks man
Glad you enjoy. They're my favorite part too :-)
I always like how you upgrade the electronics in 1 video. I really do like the look of it, esp the body.
Thanks Glad you enjoy. Yeah it looks really good and it's also an incredibly durable body. I don't know if I've ever seen a body this thick before
When will losi fking learn to stop having clam shells separate at dif input bearings, always issues with those. Gives me baja rey v1 relase ptsd with front bulkhead. They couldnt do it right for front bulkhead which had less load than rear and now they do it again for rear and high power vehicle, hell nah Even in ideal world where the clam shells are designed and manufactured perfectly this will fail, you overtighten one screw a bit and leave other too lose, its pita to shim and it always needs shims. Deal breaker for this car
Hmm. Not something I've ever really had a problem with and it seems fine in this car but I guess we'll have to see how it is long-term.
